Challenge
Created in 1869 by the division of Chêne-Thônex, Chêne-Bourg is Geneva's youngest and smallest municipality. With a population of 7,999 (as at 31 December 2009) and a surface area of 128 hectares, it is nevertheless one of the densest in the canton, with 62 inhabitants per hectare.
Situated in the heart of the Trois-Chêne area, on the banks of the Seymaz river, it is crossed by the major Rue de Genève road linking the Annemasse conurbation to the city centre. This strategic location makes it a regional economic hub with a wealth of shops and industries.
