Ville de Renens

Overview
The City of Renens commissioned iomedia to redesign its website in order to offer its audiences a modern, consistent and scalable platform.
The mandate covers the town's main website as well as several specific areas, including the library website, sports clubs and a section dedicated to the municipal council. The aim was to bring these different worlds together within a single, clear and efficient digital ecosystem.
In this project, iomedia did not intervene in the graphic design, but focused on the technological aspects, information architecture and tools necessary for effective content management. Numerous developments were made to our Commune tool in order to fully meet the client's expectations.

Challenge
Rethinking the architecture and user experience of a rich and complex ecosystem was the central challenge of the project.
Rethinking the architecture and user experience of a rich and complex ecosystem was the central challenge of the project. The overall structure and necessary UI/UX adaptations—particularly in terms of navigation, content hierarchy and presentation—represented the main challenge. The previous site had a very large number of pages that had to be analysed, streamlined and reorganised in a relevant and consistent manner.
The project also involved consolidating several previously separate sites, now brought together under a single platform.

Mobile
Accessibility on all media
The user experience is designed to adapt to all media. As a result, Internet users can easily consult their content, whatever their device. Loading and display performance ensure that content reads smoothly.

Methodology
Close to our customers' needs.
After an initial analysis phase, coordination meetings with the graphic design service provider and a series of workshops focused on specific project issues enabled us to identify the tools to be implemented and the optimal schedule for completing the various stages as quickly as possible.
A weekly working session with the client was also established. These regular exchanges greatly facilitated the progress of the project, allowing any grey areas to be quickly clarified and streamlining decision-making throughout the process.

Colors
Color choices were guided by several considerations to ensure optimum harmony and legibility. For this project, we collaborated with Renens and used the codes established in their existing graphic charter.
Design system
A library of reusable elements
Creating a design system is an essential step towards a coherent visual identity. It's a file containing a set of rules and graphic resources, which ensures visual consistency between different media, websites, applications and so on, thus facilitating the work of graphic designers and developers.
